Debbie Kim, President

Cass Tech High School

Debbie reluctantly took Japanese in high school when Latin did not fit in her schedule and has been hooked ever since. She received both her teaching degree and her Masters at Michigan State University. She currently teaches Japanese I, II and III at Cass Tech High School in Detroit. She will be taking students to Japan for the first time in the summer 2011. Debbie and her husband enjoy walking their two dogs and playing with their baby.

Faye Valtadoros, Vice President

Clarkston High School

Katie Suttles, Treasurer

Detroit Country Day Upper School

Katie has been teaching at Detroit Country Day’s Upper School since the 2008-09 school year. She teaches the upper levels of Japanese, years three and four (five and six when necessary!), and will teach a class of Japanese 1 this year. She also helps out in the art department, teaching the introductory visual art course. She is excited to be a part of the new sister school relationship DCD has with Kousen High School in Kusatsu, Shiga, Japan. After school you will probably find her in the tech shop, drilling and painting away on the set for the next school play.
